We all have the right to live the best, happiest, healthiest life we can have, but when living with endo and pelvic pain, it is sometimes hard to not feel down. And whilst this is totally acceptable, after all we are not made of stone, there are some ways you can feel better in yourself and improve the way you look out on life. After all, you deserve to feel great too!
I can imagine you are nodding your head to this, but to actually accomplish such change in mindset, you will have to own this one yourself. To feel as great as possible, you need to learn to accept and love yourself. And you are the only one who can do that.
The first step is acceptance. When you don’t accept who you are as a person, you don’t get the joy of experiencing a life of contentment and satisfaction. You can’t fully celebrate all that you have to offer. Easier said than done, I hear you thinking. But is it really? The facts are right in front of us and will not be any different 20 years from now, so we may as well accept them and move on:
You are suffering from a chronic pain condition. This will not change anytime soon.
You are worthy of having the best life you can have. And getting everything you ever wanted. Why shouldn’t you?
You need to release the need to judge yourself. Yes, you had to call in sick, or cancel those plans with friends. This doesn’t make you hopeless, it’s just the way things go sometimes. Let it go.
There is no such thing as perfect. Because there really isn’t.
You are the only one in control of yourself. No-one else will live your life for you.
The second step is to love yourself. To truly love yourself for who you really are. Instead of focusing on things that you don’t like about yourself and the mistakes you have made in the past, concentrate on your strong attributes and the things that you’ve done right. Learn from your mistakes. Celebrate your achievements. Congratulate yourself on positive decisions. Because this is what matters.
Loving yourself means accepting yourself, listening to yourself, and making time for yourself. The more you love yourself, the easier it is to make healthier choices. Listen to your mind and body, give it exactly what it needs. Do something that makes you feel good every day. And before you know it, you feel great!
